Contact Kathryn for Private Lessons
Dr. Kathryn Vetter teaches clarinet at William Paterson University and clarinet, music theory, and ear training at Mannes Prep at The New School.
She also holds a small studio of select clarinet, saxophone, and flute students in New York City and Long Island. Her previous students have successfully auditioned into The Juilliard School of Music Pre-College, Manhattan School of Music Precollege, and Mannes Prep, as well as continuing on to attend New England Conservatory of Music, Harvard University, Stony Brook University, University of North Texas, Florida State University, and other undergraduate and graduate music degree programs throughout the country.

Dr. Vetter has previously taught music education and contemporary performance practice at Five Towns College in Dix Hills, New York (2021-2025) and was the sabbatical replacement Professor of Clarinet for Dr. Suzanne Tirk at the University of Oklahoma (2022). Dr. Vetter was the undergraduate clarinet instructor at Stony Brook University (2018-2020), and she was a maternity-leave replacement for Dr. Suzanne Tirk for the clarinet studio at the University of Oklahoma (2016).
Dr. Vetter won the Provost's Certificate of Distinction in Teaching from the University of Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma, she was the adjunct clarinet instructor at Southridge Junior High School, the clarinet instructor at Imagine Music and Arts, and co-founder of Imagine's early childhood music program for students ages birth through five years. During her graduate degrees at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Vetter held teaching assistantships in clarinet and music theory, where she taught private clarinet lessons for undergraduate and graduate students, clarinet methods for music education majors, and aural skills and music theory courses.
While in Michigan for her Bachelor’s of Music Education, Dr. Vetter taught early childhood music classes at MSU’s Community Music School and The Flint School of Performing Arts for students birth through seven years of age.

Early Childhood Music Education
Dr. Vetter believes strongly in providing a high-quality music learning environment for all children during their critical stages of development. She began teaching early childhood music classes at the Michigan State University Community Music School in 2013 after studying under Dr. Cynthia Taggart. She taught at CMS (ages birth-7 yrs.) and the Young Musicians classes (3-7 yrs.) at the Flint School of Performing Arts in Flint, Michigan until 2015. In 2016, Dr. Vetter co-founded the early childhood music education program at Imagine Music and Arts in Norman, Oklahoma. In 2018, Dr. Vetter co-founded the early childhood music program with the Long Island Studio of Music. She currently teaches music theory and musicianship for 4-7 year olds at Mannes Prep at The New School.
